4. Discussion


4.1 Analysis of results

We have decided to put in a bar graph to show the range of each phone, such that we can compare them.
The Bar graph on top shows the range of readings when the phone is left unused.
The Bar graph below shows the range of readings when called.
From the results, we can conclude that:

When Not Used
  1. iPhone 6+ (+-7.5v)
  2. Sony Xperia V (+-7v)
  3. iPhone 3Gs (+-6v)
  4. Samsung S5 (+-6v)
  5. XiaoMi Redmi (+-5v)
  6. Samsung Pocket Neo (+-5v)
  7. Nokia (+- 4.5v)

When Called
  1. iPhone 6+ (7.5v to -7.5v)
  2. Nokia (7v to -7v)
  3. iPhone 3Gs (7v to -6v)
  4. XiaoMi Redmi (7v to -6v)
  5. Sony Xperia V (6v to -6v)
  6. Samsung Pocket Neo (6v to -6v)

Voltage When Called Minus Voltage When Unused
  1. Nokia --- 3.5v
  2. XiaoMi --- 1-2v
  3. Samsung Pocket Neo --- 1v
  4. iPhone 3Gs --- 0-1v
  5. iPhone 6+ --- 0v
  6. Samsung S5 --- 0v
  7. Sony --- -1v

This shows that when left alone normally, the iPhone 6+ emits the most amount of voltage while the Nokia releases the least amount of voltage.
When on a call, the iPhone 6+ is still the phone which emits the most amount of voltage while the Samsung S5 releases the least amount of voltage
The phone with the most difference between the 2 readings is the Nokia. This shows that the Nokia is phone is unstable and that the danger level increases drastically. The phone with the least difference are the iPhone 6+ and the Samsung S5 these phones are the newest and their readings for both before call and on call are almost the same. This shows that these phones are consistent and more reliable.

This means that although the older phones release less voltage as compared to newer phones when left unused, their voltage release increases much more drastically as compared to the newer phones whose voltages don't change much.

4.2 Key findings
In the end after collecting our results, we found out that the iPhone 6+ releases the most amount of voltage when left alone normally. We also found out that the Nokia releases the least amount of voltage when left alone normally.

We also found out that the iPhone 6+ releases the most amount of voltage during a call. We also found out that Samsung S5 releases the least amount of voltage during the call.

4.3 Explanation of key findings
Newer have more functions like able to download applications, songs, etc. and they also have mobile data or Wi-Fi, which radiates EMR so more radiation is emitted from modern phones.

4.4 Evaluation of Hypothesis
The more advanced and new a phone is, the higher the amount of voltage it uses and therefore the greater amount of electromagnetic radiation.

4.5 Areas for improvement 
We need to plan ahead properly to get work done more efficiently and to reduce the number of failures we had while doing this project.
